Frequently Asked Questions

Product Definitions

  1. What is a Fine Art Print

Our Fine Art Prints are offset lithographs. Produced on high quality 80lb (210gsm) cover stock and using the best available inks ensures a vibrant and vividly detailed reproduction of the original work. Where matted we use a specialty suede mat board that is acid free in its core and backing.

  2. Canvas

Our Canvas prints are Canvas Transfers. This process is the transferring of the image from a Fine Art Print on paper to a 12oz heavy Cotton Duck Canvas using a very careful technique. The paper print is soaked in a solvent solution and then the image is lifted and replaced on to the canvas substrate. Once positioned the finished canvas is then baked in a vacuum oven before final stretching and finishing.

  3. Canvas Giclee

    A
Giclee (pronounced zhee-clay, a French word meaning “spray or spurt of ink”) is a high resolution, high quality reproduction individually printed on a special large format printer. These beautiful digital reproductions are virtually unparalleled in quality and range of color, and are at the leading edge of fine art printmaking. Our archival 12 color pigment ink set provides the largest color gamut of any commercial ink ever developed. In addition, this ink has a color permanence rating in excess of 100 years (when properly cared for, and displayed in acceptable lighting). Our canvas is high quality artist grade canvas. This 350gsm, acid free, archival canvas has a tight, natural weave which maximizes image quality, while also revealing the texture of an artist’s canvas.

  4. Tapestries

Tapestries are an exquisitely unique art form for several reasons. First, the design is woven into the image creating a perceptible and tangible texture and warmth to the art. The texture adds dimensionality to the image which when viewed at a subtle distance creates major visual impact. Secondly, a tapestry enhances the acoustics of a room absorbing background noise. Finally, tapestries are approachable. We live with woven textiles everyday in our clothes, furniture and fabrics. Textiles are an intimate part of our lives.

  5. Giant Patchworks

Giant Patchworks are unique artwork solutions for those hard to fill large spaces. Each image is an extremely large format digital file that is then split up in to smaller pieces and made in to individual Canvas
Giclee. Sizes when placed together on the wall cover from 4 feet square up to 9 feet square. Shipped together (with an assembly diagram) in a regular box means that shipping costs are kept very low for a piece of artwork this size. See our Canvas Giclee description for details of the Canvas under our FAQ section.
